Mary Jean Richter (Lentsch), August 1, 1934 - June 16, 2018, age 83, of Fraser Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Dietrich. Born in Detroit on August 1, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Lentsch. She was raised in Clinton Twp, MI. She graduated in 1953 from Mount Clemens High School and was valedictorian of her class. While at high school, she was a member of the Aqubells, a synchronized swimming team. During the summers of 1954-58 she worked at Metropolitan Beach Metropark, now Lake St. Clair Metropark, as a telephone switchboard operator as well as a lifeguard. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University in 1957 with majors in German and History. In 1961 she received her Master of Education Degree from Wayne State University. She began teaching History in 1957 at L'Anse Creuse High School. In 1959 she became the librarian at the school and continued in that position until her retirement in June 1992. From 1975-2009, she served as a trustee on the City of Fraser's Library Commission.
She was married in Mount Clemens on November 18, 1961 to Dietrich Joseph Richter who taught English at the school. They were married 56 years until his death in 2017. She is survived by her son Mark Richter, brother-in-law, Samuel Richter of Ann Arbor, and two nephews, Samuel and Steven Richter, and a niece, Sara Richter.
