Meljean "Jean" Caroline Knapp

My Deepest Sympathy to all of Louis and Meljean's family at this time of sorrow and loss.
I am one of Meljean's Canadian cousins who was 2 years younger than my American cousin Meljean whom I loved.
My mother Lillian Hoover Ashley kept in touch with my Uncle Mel and Aunt Jean by letters, photos, telephone calls and summer visits so we always knew how our cousins were doing and on occasion had the joy of seeing them.
My fondest memory of Meljean goes back to my childhood when I received a parcel from Detroit. In it was a beautiful Girl's Mauve Wool Coat & Tam with fur trim which fit me perfectly and I wore it with pride. Aunt Jean enclosed a note to say that it was one of Meljean's slightly used coats that she had outgrown . I loved this coat BECAUSE it had been Meljean's and that made it SPECIAL to me.
Meljean will be remembered for her loving kindness , smiling face, sweet disposition and always a very special cousin.
With loving thoughts,
Helen (Ashley) Philp

Jeannie , Mike and Elizabeth, I am so sorry for your loss. I know what a special women your mom was kids and how much you all loved her. She will always have a special place in your hearts right next to your dad. I enjoyed knowing them, they were a great couple. Enjoyed seeing them in Tawas camping. What good memories you will always have. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God be with you during this sad time. But know they are together now with God. Love you all.
