Omerca Marin, a resident of Clinton Township and formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, her 78th birthday. She was born on August 18, 1948, in Varias, Romania, to her parents, Lazar and Zorana Trivunschi. Omerca was raised in Romania and lived there for much of her adult life before moving to the United States. She worked very hard to become a United States citizen and was incredibly proud of that accomplishment.
Omerca married the love of her life, Misa Marin, on August 30, 1969, in Romania. Together, they shared many wonderful years of marriage, raised their two children, and eventually moved to the United States. They remained devoted to one another until Misa’s passing in 2009.
Omerca worked as a seamstress and was talented with her hands, even making clothing for her own children as they were growing up. A hard worker throughout her life, her greatest role, however, was always that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, great-grandmother. She was one of the most caring, giving, and selfless people you could ever know. She loved deeply and gave so much of herself to the people she loved.
Family was the most important thing to Omerca, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She also stayed closely connected with many friends in Romania, messaging with them on Facebook every day and sharing Serbian recipes. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed listening to Serbian music. In recent years, she remained active by regularly going to the gym.
Omerca was a woman of strong Orthodox faith and was a member of St. Lazarus Ravanica in Detroit, where she was also active in the church’s retirement group. She especially enjoyed the group’s monthly gatherings and trips. Wherever they went, Omerca was happy, as she was surrounded by good company.
Omerca will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Liliana (Richard) Kristin, and Dusan Marin; her grandchildren, Stefan (Destine) Kristin and Dusco Marin; and her great-granddaughter, Eleanor Kristin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Misa Marin, and her parents, Lazar and Zorana Trivunschi.
Visitation for Omerca will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. The funeral service will be held at the same location at 8:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 7:30 AM, on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
