Truly a lovely and charming lady.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.  Deepest sympathy to the family and friends. 


Mrs. Mandell was always so bubbly and vibrant.  She was always kind and that I truly appreciated. My condolences go out to her entire family. 

It's so very hard not being able to call our first friends. Which are our siblings, before we remenber their names we lovely refer to them as sister, or brother. To that they lovingly respond.  Some of our first outting without our parents just might been with them. Proudly letting us tag along as big sisters sometime do.  The fondness of sisterhood memories will linger on, because The Love Shared Between SISTERS sits forever in our thoughts and are cherished forever in our hearts.

Dear Patsy,
You were a bright light in this world.  You will be missed.  Your sweetness, your kindness, your generosity, and your willingness to    help others is a quality that set you a part from many.  I am truly glad that you were a part of my life for a while.  The angels in heaven are singing with joy because you are now with them.   

You were a portion of God made manifest and immersed in the Holy Spirit of life, love, and happiness and we are all better for having known you.  Farewell God's good and faithful servant.

Patsy I was looking forward to seeing you again once this pandemic was over. I regret now waiting. You were one of a kind. I don’t recall how many chess classes we taught together. You were always a great influence on the younger kids. They looked forward to seeing “Ms. Patsy” every day. You knew how to make people smile, laugh and feel beautiful. That is a special gift you were blessed with.

My life and my daughter’s life have been made a little by knowing you. I really enjoyed that time when you came over to my place for some tea and snacks after camp one day. I loved hearing your stories about dating. I will think of you every time I teach a beginner. RIP


My memories with Patsy– and they were always great ones– go back a long, long way... to the 1950s. When she married my cousin, Dennis I sometimes stayed at their house. They had an old Nash car in the garage, rusted so badly underneath that the springs had popped up into the trunk–making it undriveable! 

Patsy introduced me to a new thing I had never had before: pizza!  It was delivered to their house and this was a BIG thing back then, long years before anyone ever heard of pizza or delivery! They always had music going at the house and kept cool record album covers on the walls where I slept. This was a BIG deal back then!

Her brother, Sonny and his wife lived upstairs over Patricia and Dennis. Her dad collected and repaired Hudson cars. The street where they lived was lined with old Hudsons parked along the curb. He was going to "fix them up" someday. A great mechanic who could fix my cars and had a gas station at Davison & Dexter.

Patsy and Dennis bought a brand-new 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible– red and white with a spear of ribbed gold on the sides. Patsy always asked me to ride up front with her and Denny. And I always got to help with lowering the convertible top and snapping on the boot. We went on long drives together in that convertible (and later in Denny's 1963 Pontiac LeMans convertible), to Belle Isle and various parks. And sometimes all the way to Ohio to get the fabulous hamburgers at a place called "White Hut." 

Patsy had a method of tossing a piece of popcorn  up while the convertible was moving and having that popcorn land in the back seat with the kids there–much to their delight. She was always fun and always kept everyone entertained, enthralled and happy. She knew endless funny jokes and rhymes and games.

Patsy always had a way of making me (and others) feel special and took lots of time to teach me things as a youngster. 

While we've been out of touch many years, I still have fond memories and much love. Unforgettable.

I will miss you Patsy. I remember babysitting my cousins Dennis, Christopher & Kelle.  You are gone to be with the Lord but I will see you again. Praying for wisdom, strength and guidance for my family. RIH Patsy. Gone but not forgotten.
