Rebecca was born on June 25, 1939, in Newtownards, Ireland, to parents David and Eileen Johnston. She immigrated to Canada in 1953, then to Michigan in 1956 as a teenager.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael W. (Kimberly) Frank and Colleen G. (Scott) Frank Ferguson; grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Birch, Kyle Frank, and Olivia Ferguson; great granddaughters, Harper Birch, Brielle Birch, and Kendall Birch; beloved sister, Lorraine (Frank) Johnston Buban, sister-in-law Deborah Johnston; nieces Jennifer Johnston, Catherine Brackin and Abigail Buban; nephews, David Johnston III, Michael Johnston, Nathan Buban and Trevor (Jenny) Buban; great nieces, Zoe Buban, Erin Buban, Lydia Buban, Hailey Buban, Madison Johnston, Mackenzie Johnston; great nephew, Thomas Brackin.
She is preceded in death by husband Charles E. Frank; brothers David Johnston II and Wayne Johnston; brother-in-law, Thomas R. Klei; sister Rosemary Johnston Klei; sister-in-law, Linda Johnston; nephew Gregory Johnston.
Rebecca’s greatest joys were hosting holidays and luncheons with family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, knitting, reading and shopping. She made friends wherever she went, and when attending any function, would bring one of her many baked treats. She took pride in being a homemaker and a part-time retail associate at Hudsons (Macy’s) over the years. Her faith was strong, and she took joy in attending Immanuel Lutheran Church regularly until she became ill.
Rebecca was loved greatly and will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Rebecca will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 9:30 am.
