Richard Francis Jantz, age 73, passed away February 11, 2021 in Grosse Pointe Woods. He was born June 24, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Richard & Ruth (Connelly) Jantz.

Richard was an active member for over 30 years in the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1269 in Mt. Clemens, he held the offices of Secretary, President, and State President. He was excellent at recruiting new club members and securing donations for philanthropic events. Richard belonged to the L’anse Creuse Athletic Club and enjoyed organizing the pancake breakfasts. He was an avid fan of U of M Football and Tom Brady. But his favorite football player was his grandson, Josh. Richard enjoyed going to the cabin to hunt and play poker in his younger days. He loved his family, and participated in the variety of activities that his daughters were involved in. Richard was known to actively read the newspaper and not shy about asking for coupons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Kelly (John) Dunlop, Julie (Robert) DeCraene; grandchildren, Alexandra, Amanda, Josh; siblings, Mary Lou Jantz, Dorothy (Harvey) Faust, and Thomas (Peggy) Jantz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Betty Shellman; and two brothers, John Jantz and William Jantz.

A memorial visitation for Richard will be on Sunday, February 14 from 2-7pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd. Clinton Township, MI 48038.

Rick was such a wonderful man. We shared many fun times with my grandma Betty and Rick. He was such a kind, giving person that was always there for his friends and family.
