

Richard was a man of intelligence, dedication, and curiosity whose accomplishments and adventures left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University and later continued his education, receiving a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
Throughout his distinguished career, Richard worked in the semiconductor industry as a Field Application Engineer from 1996 until his retirement in 2019. During those years, he remained committed to innovation and excellence as the company evolved through several name changes, beginning as Hitachi Semiconductor America, then Renesas Technology America, and finally Renesas Electronics America. His expertise, professionalism, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of his professional life, Richard embraced adventure and enjoyed many activities that brought him joy. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and skier who appreciated both competition and the camaraderie these sports provided. He also possessed a passion for travel, exploring destinations around the world. His journeys took him to many places including Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy, France, Germany, Egypt, and Japan, where he enjoyed experiencing new cultures, histories, and landscapes.
Richard was also a devoted animal lover. Over the years, he shared his home and heart with both cats and dogs, finding great companionship and happiness in their presence.
Above all, Richard will be remembered for his intellect, adventurous spirit, kindness, and appreciation for the world around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Richard was the loving husband of Sayuri Kubota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Glover and brother, Simon Union.
Visitation will be held at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township, on June 13, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm.
