Ronald Jerome Dulecki, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2024, at his home in Clinton Township, surrounded by his children and two oldest grandsons, at age 74. Ron was born April 24, 1950, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the third eldest son of Raymond Joseph and Laura Jeonne Dulecki (nee Wilson). Growing up in Roseville, Michigan, he was one of eight siblings: Raymond, Robert, Randall (Yvonne), Ralph, Anthony, Mary Oppenheim and Laura Rugenstein. An altar boy, he attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1968. He enjoyed wrenching on cars, bowling, playing pool and Pinochle. He grew up down the street from the love of his life, Sharon Marie Dulecki (nee Sierecki), and they married on his birthday, April 24, 1970, always joking that date was chosen so that he would never forget their anniversary. Ron and Sharon had three children, Ronald Jr (Janet), Elaine, and Susan Brunell, and six grandchildren, Joseph Eugene Jr, Aaron Michael, Alannah Marie, Nathan Frederick, Kate Lorinda, and Ethan Kenneth. Ron is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon, parents Raymond and Laura, and brothers Ray, Bob, and Ralph.
Ron began working at the family gear and spline machine shop in Detroit before chasing his dream and becoming a small business accountant. Once he achieved his dream of accounting, he dedicated his life to his clients, befriending and forming lifelong friendships with many of them. Ron took pride in his accounting work, earning a Certificate of Recognition from the State of Michigan House of Representatives, honoring his exemplary work with the Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce as the Accountant of the Chamber in 2010. Ron worked for his clients until he no longer could, because that is truly what he enjoyed doing. His strong work ethic is something he learned from his father, Raymond, and passed down to his children.
Ron fought three different cancers, which ultimately led to his affection for skulls and skeletons. He nicknamed himself “GOF” which stands for “Grumpy Old Fart,” wearing his embroidered “GOF” beanie hat through the end. He loved collecting coins and Hot Wheel cars, The Three Stooges, Looney Tunes, and anything quirky or unusual. Ron was loved by those who knew him, and showed his love through thoughtful gestures, fondly remembered by his siblings for handing out fudgesicles when he worked at Bob’s Market in high school and filing their taxes as adults, something he did not only for his clients, but family and friends as well. He was a sounding board for his children and grandchildren, lending an ear and giving guidance when he could. Ron found peace in the woods of the Upper Peninsula with his brother Ray and enjoyed solitude with his wife Sharon in various up north Michigan towns when he was not working. He enjoyed trips to the casino followed by a lamb chop dinner in Greek Town with his client and friend, day trips and conversations with close friends, listening to music and talking about the “good ole days.” He would grumble about giving a hug, but ultimately, gave the best hugs around. A man of few words, he was quiet with quick wit and dry humor, which often left many people shaking their heads in laughter. Ron will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew him. A celebration of life will be held on his birthdate and wedding anniversary, April 24, 2025, with details to be shared in the future.
