Mr. Ronald E. Mickey, Sr, age 71, of Roseville, Michigan passed away the morning of April 5, 2010 at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Growing up on his family’s dairy farm in Pennsylvania, Ronald learned the value of hard work early in life and continued to live by that ideal until the very end. Ronald, or “Mick” to his friends, was rarely idle, working hard as a Dispatch Manager at Four Seasons Transit Mix, raising his three beloved children, and pursuing many hobbies, including race car driving, building motorcycles and R/C cars, and woodworking. His home was everyone’s home, and he always welcomed in his children’s friends as if they were his own. After his declining health forced him to retire at the age of 50, he split his time between working in his garage perfecting his woodworking craft and babysitting his three grandchildren. Ronald was the ultimate cheerleader, and could always be found in the bleachers of his grandkids’ sporting events, rooting them on. He was also the family bus driver, using his trusty van to transport his grandkids and their friends to and from school and after-school activities. He always had a smile and joke for everyone he met, and profoundly influenced the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him. Whenever anyone needed anything, Ronald was the first to volunteer his time. He was the glue that kept his tight-knit family together. He is survived by his mother, Ethel Mickey; his brother Thomas (Norma) Mickey; his wife, Joetta; his children, Ronald (Linda) Mickey, Jr, William Mickey, and Michelle Mickey; his grandchildren, Robert Mickey, Samantha Bainbridge, and Andrew Mickey. Visitation will be at Resurrection Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8th from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held there on Friday, April 9th at 11am.
