Russell was a devoted husband to the late Zella Angello; cherished father to Elizabeth (Michael) Emery, Tim Angello, and the late Michael Angello; loving grandfather to Emily Gietzen, Kristin (Jason) Diaz, Erik Emery, and Shane Emery; Great Grandfather to Aadin Sanchez and Raelynn Diaz; Dearest brother to Jim Angello, the late Joe Angello, the late Patricia Bell, and the late Rose Duris.
Russell was immensely proud of his Italian heritage. A Korean War Veteran, Russell served his country with honor and bravery, earning a Purple Heart for his sacrifices. His sense of duty and commitment to his country was a cornerstone of his character.
Russell was passionate about working on race cars, particularly stock cars. His enthusiasm for cars was matched only by his dedication to gardening. He took great pride in planting vegetables and maintaining the perfect yard, boasting the best lawn on the block.
Handy and resourceful, Russell could fix or build just about anything. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs (Jake & Pepper), who brought him great joy and companionship.
A memorial visitation for Russell will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Township, MI 48035.
Russell will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East with Military honors on Friday, July 26th at 1:00 PM. If you will be attending the service, please meet in the parking lot of the cemetery between 12:30 & 12:45 pm to follow the procession to the Resurrection Mausoleum.
