Shirley E. Kirby passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of George Kirby, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Shirley was a caring and devoted aunt to Denis Kansier, Gayle Kansier, Debi Kansier, and Greg Kansier. She treasured her family and was always there with a listening ear and a warm smile.
Shirley was an active member of Hope United Church of Christ, where her faith was an important part of her life. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and sharing her love of faith with others.
Known for her wonderful baking, Shirley found joy in creating delicious treats for those she loved. She was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. She loved listening to the beautiful music of Andrea Bocelli and had a deep love for animals. Throughout her lifetime, Shirley lovingly cared for four dogs and one cat, each holding a special place in her heart.
Some of Shirley and George’s most treasured moments were their simple Sunday drives together. They would take a leisurely drive along the water toward Port Huron, enjoying the scenery and each other’s company. On the way home, they would always make time for one of their favorite traditions—stopping for ice cream.
Shirley will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, devotion to her family and faith, and the many simple joys that made her life so special. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. Friends may visit the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 am. Shirley will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
