Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A talented needlepoint artist, she won first place many times at the state fair for her intricate and beautiful work. She was also skilled at sewing and was a big puzzle enthusiast, always keeping her hands and mind busy with things she loved.
She had a special gift for making those around her feel welcome, whether she was hosting her cherished Christmas Eve gatherings, enjoying long lunches with dear friends (the kind that could last forever), or collecting trinkets that filled her home with character and charm.
Two of her happiest places were the cottage in Port Austin and going to Jack and Judy's place in Lexington, where she made many memories all year round. Shirley treasured the simple joy of a show and dinner out with her beloved late husband and especially adored her Friday dates with her daughter Susan, which always included lunch and getting their hair done together - a tradition she looked forward to every week.
Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her love of company, her devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought into every room. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Shirley is survived by her children: Susan Miller and David (Corinne) Ziemba; grandchildren: Joel (Deanna) Miller, Lauren Miller, Zachary (Sarah) Ziemba, Hannah Ziemba, and Olivia (John) Green; and great grandchildren: Adrienne, Ashley, Claire, Gwen, Eve, and Genesis.
Shirley was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 64 years, Frank Ziemba.
A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday, October 14 at 3pm until the time of the service at 4pm at Kaul Funeral Home - 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI.
