Stephen Joseph Urbanec, age 91, of Warren, Michigan passed away on December 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his sons Stephen (Gail) Urbanec Jr., Jerome (Maureen) Urbanec, grandchildren Kristi (David) Baurhenn, Kelly (Matthew) Draveski, great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ava Baurhenn and Max and Mason Draveski. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Cecelia Marion Urbanec.
Stephen leaves behind a great legacy; He enjoyed playing the Slovenian Button Box with his wife, Cecelia, and was an active member of the Slovenian Button Box Players, and also enjoyed polka dancing. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Stephen was a hard-working man, and started working in small tool and die shops until settled in working for Chrysler, retiring after 32 years with them. An avid sports fan, he dedicated his Sundays to football, following the Detroit Lions, either on television or at a tailgate party. Time spent with family was important, and Stephen loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which always put a big smile on his face. Stephen also enjoyed classic cars and attending car shows with his sons. He will be missed dearly.
Visitation for Stephen will be held on Thursday December 6, 2018 from 2 p.m to 8 p.m. A Catholic Mass celebrating Stephen’s life will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Paul of Tarsus 41300 Romeo Plank Rd. Clinton Twp. MI 48038, with an In State time of 9:30 AM until the mass at 10 AM. Burial will take place immediately following mass at Resurrection Cemetery.
