A Vietnam War veteran, Butch proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968.
The majority of his career was in public service starting as a police officer in Romeo to Chief of Police in Armada, Michigan. After leaving the police force, he worked at the Macomb County Friend of the Court Office, retiring after 20 plus years. During his employment and continuing well into retirement, Butch also was a process server for many local attorney offices. Being a true people person, he enjoyed this line of work and valued the respect he earned for getting the job done professionally, successfully and with such ease.
Butch’s passion was flying. He held a private and commercial pilots license. Butch truly enjoyed every moment in his plane, whether flying a few laps in the pattern, or creating a flight plan to fly to a favorite airport restaurant for lunch. He also enjoyed volunteering his time to chartable flying organizations, such as Angel Flight and Operation Good Cheer.
Butch was a member of the Community Council at Selfridge ANGB, and enjoyed helping out at the airshows. He spent many hours at the base on the golf course which was another great joy for him . When not flying, he could be found on golf courses strategizing his next great shot, getting a hot dog at the turn, and “occasionally” having to take that dreaded drop.
Butch will be best remembered for his generosity and being there to support his family and friends. His charm, wit, sense of humor, and warm personality were beyond measure, and made him an instant and life-long friend.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him
A private family service is being held.
