Thomas C. Skender, age 65, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away on February 22, 2022. He is the beloved husband of Jackie Skender, they were together for almost 30 years; Loving son of the late Marilyn and Philip Skender; Dear step-father of Stephen (Mari) Wink and Sara Shields; Treasured grandfather of Grace Shields, Sofia Shields, Cody Wink, Parker Wink, and great-grandfather of Amaya Shields; Dearest brother of Michael (Sue) Skender, Phil (Ellen) Skender, Mary Kay (Geoff) White, Paul (Bill Jenkins) Skender, Lynn (David) Mouser and brother-in-law of Joanne (Shawn) Mahoney and Barbara (James) Rocco; Cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Tom was a “larger than life” kind of person, with a love for life and doing things that made him happy. His family was everything to him. Tom lived for golfing and watching the Masters Tournament every year. He also didn’t pass up an opportunity to go boating with friends (as he was always the co-captain). Tom also worked for over 20 years and retired as a pressman in the newspaper business. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held for Tom on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 2-8 PM, with a memory share service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. A brief visitation will continue on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM, also at Resurrection Funeral Home. Final interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center with Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan.
