Tuong D. Nguyen, age 73, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away on June 26, 2021. He was born in Ha Tan, Vietnam on September 15, 1948 to Tong Ngo and Thi Te Vo. Tuong was the loving husband to Hoa Nguyen for 53 years. He is the beloved father to Ly (Fred Monroe) Nguyen, Lien (Dave) Babulak, Loan (Matt) Coles, Carolyn (Chris Venable) Nguyen, Long (Andrea) Nguyen, and Jacqueline (Javid Ahadi) Nguyen. He is the cherished grandfather to Benjaminh Nguyen Monroe, Carson Coles, Sage Venable, Liam Venable, Noah Venable, Leo Nguyen and Mai Ly Nguyen.
Tuong was an English teacher in Vietnam and worked as an interpreter for the U.S. government during the Vietnam War. Tuong and Hoa made the difficult decision to leave Vietnam during the fall of Saigon in hopes of giving their children a better life. Tuong devoted 30 years assisting refugees as a social worker for the State of Michigan. His years of dedication to those who sought a safe refuge will always be remembered and appreciated by many. During his years of retirement, Tuong enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family welcomes all to stay for the Reflection Service at 6:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48035. Contributions made to Hoa Nguyen will be donated to Tuong’s Buddhist Temple.
