Virginia Lee Pierson Whitmer was born in April 4, 1922 in Clay, WV. She was the youngest of 14 children. She met the love of her life, Charles “Jack” Whitmer, in 1943. After declining his proposal multiple times, they spent 70 years together in wedded bliss. Virginia enjoyed shopping, eating yummy foods, and spending time with her loved ones. Virginia has a lot of interesting experiences in her 98 years. She was hit by a car as a child while buying candy, grew up to work at Glenn L. Martin during World War II, and worked as a dental hygienist. She raised her two children with Jack in Maryland and traveled the world with her daughter and grandchildren. She was known for her infectious laugh, generous heart, and wonderful sense of humor.
Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; as well as her son, David; and her thirteen siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Bob) Adams; grandchildren Carol (Marty) Pachla, Sandra (Jacob) Braman, Crystal (Daniel) Green, Candice Barlow, David Whitmer, and Sarah Welch. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Alex, Nate, Riley, Robin, Abbey, Tessa, Maddy, Vivian, and Finnley.
Family would like to keep visitation private. Burial will take place at the Pierson Cemetery in Maysel, WV.
