

He was born on December 7, 1943 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan to Dorothy Violet Randall and John Walter Von Allmen.
Walter graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1962. He served in the Army from 1964 to 1968.
Walter was a postal carrier for the USPS for 30 years in Detroit and Grosse Pointe and had been retired for 27 years. He worked for Denton Construction Company cleaning their offices for about 25 years. He was active in community by starting and working on a neighborhood CB patrol in Detroit and delivered for Meals on Wheels after he retired. In 2015 he achieved his life’s dream of going to Switzerland to see where his father was born.
Walter was preceded by his wife, Carol. He is survived by children: John (Elizabeth) Von Allmen and Colleen (Eric) La Crosse; grandson, Jack Von Allmen; and granddaughters, Kiki and Ariel
La Crosse. Also survived by many extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; and brother, Paul (the late Cheri) Von Allmen.
The family will greet guests for a graveside committal service at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Twp., Michigan. Per the family request, casual attire is requested for those in attendance.
