Wilfred Puls, age 83, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 19, 2013. Wil was born in Clinton Township, Michigan on March 9, 1929 to George and Erna Puls. He grew up on a family farm and learned to love the farming life. After serving in the Army, he married Martha Jean Schoensee, of Center Line, Michigan on December 20, 1952 and continued in a wonderfully blessed marriage for the next 60 years. He built his own home in Fraser, Michigan and lived there until his death.
Wil considered his spiritual life to be his top priority. He was an active member at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Being unable to farm due to the expanding Detroit suburbs, Wil became a consignee for Mobil Oil Corporation in 1956; he eventually purchased the business in 1978 and continued managing the business until retirement.
Wil was an extremely loving and devoted husband and father. It was obvious that his family was a top priority. He taught life lessons on a daily basis, mainly by example. The family took many camping trips across the country, as Wil loved traveling. Wil also enjoyed working around the home, building and repairing whatever was necessary, putting his farming background to good use.
He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years, which were centered on church, family, friends, and travel. Wil and Martha especially enjoyed their winters spent in Mount Dora, Florida.
Wil was predeceased by his parents, George and Erna, and by his brother, Oliver. He is survived by his wife, Martha; and by 4 sons, Dwight (Sherry), Mark (Doris), Wayne (Colleen), and David (Ellen). There are 9 wonderful grandchildren; Daniel, Brian, Eric, Matthew, Zachary, Benjamin, Amanda, Kara, and Emma. Brother to Verna (Howard) Richards, Charlotte (James) Morrow. His surviving family looks forward to a blessed reunion in heaven.
Visitation will be at the Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield Road in Clinton Township on Monday, January 21, from 2pm to 9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, at St. Luke Lutheran Church 21400 S. Nunneley, Clinton Township at 11am, with Instate at 10 am. Interment will be at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Saint Luke Lutheran Church, or charity of choice.
