Betsy,I'm Janet Adkins Nieves,1st cousin to Jerry. June & Phil Adkins daughter. I've enjoyed many emails & talks on Facebook with Jerry. He was such a sweet & caring person. He never met my kids but got close to my oldest daughter Virginia Akers who passed away this past Sept. He told me they had a lot of nice talks on Facebook also & they liked to joke w/each other. I'm so sorry for your loss & pray God helps you through this painful time. We all will miss him. You take care.

Betsy I am Karen Adkins Shaffer. Jerry was my first cousin. I had not got to see him for years, but we stayed in touch over the last three years through e-mails & on facebook. Lawrence Adkins, (Larry) was my brother. I'm sure you've heard Jerry talk about his Aunt Fannie & Uncle George Adkins. That was my Mom & Dad. Jerry was like a brother to all of us. I also had planned on coming up this summer to see everyone. The last time I saw him was in Fremont when he came to visit my sister Rona some years ago. Jerry was such a sweet, kind person. I always enjoyed talking to him on here. Even though we haven't seen some of the family for awhile, we were a close knit family. Family has always been important to us. I will miss him very much & my condolences go out to you & the family. I am so sorry. I never got to meet you,but I'm sure you are a very sweet lady & my prayers are with you. May God bless you & be with you during your time of need. Jerry was a terrific guy & as I said will be greatly missed. God has another angel in heaven.

Betsy, I am Paula Adkins Blankenship, one of Jerry's first cousins. I only recently reconnected with Jerry after 40 some years of no contact. It was like we had never stopped talking. He was such a wonderful, he always looked our for me when we were kids cause I was such a scardy cat. He was a great guy then and a great guy now. I miss him very much. I was planning a trip up there this summer to visit with you two. Sorry we never got to meet. Hope all will be well with you and your family. You all have my deepest sympathy.

I'm sorry to hear my last brother has passed away. Besides me, Jerry has a half-sister named Joy. Aside from Joy and me, Jerry had one other half-sister and seven brothers. We come from Ironton and various other places in Lawrence County, Ohio. I have no doubt he has gone to a far better place. Diane and I offer our sincerest condolence to Betsy.
