William John Hackett

Beloved husband of the late Helene; adored father of John (Pamela) Hackett, and Jamie (Ben Dixon) Hackett; proud grandfather of Michael, Jennifer, and John Jr. (Adrian) and Tamie (Charles); great-grandfather of Logan, James, Nolan, Cassie and Amanda (Cody); great great grandfather of Lawson, Colton and Blakey; brother of Lawrence (Norma) Hackett and Diane Hackett; also survived by many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Leona Hackett.

William was born on October 25, 1930 in Rosebush, Michigan. Attended St Clair Shores Assembly of God for over 50 years

Dad drew people like a magnet due to his servant’s heart, personality, sense of humor and his positive attitude toward life. He proudly served his country with the United States Army in the 132nd and played baseball for the General. He married his childhood sweetheart, Helene Wright, and they spent 70 years of marriage together. William was an educator and a principal for many years and was celebrated nationally for his achievements. He was actively involved in the athletic endeavors with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was inducted into the Flint Northern Athletic Hall of Fame for basketball.

Avid Music lover of a variety of genres. Appreciated God’s great outdoors and enjoyed traveling the United States with his family in the pop up camper. Exhibited a strong work ethic and Instilled family values.

Private family memorial will be held at a later date.
