He was a great father to Tom (Patty), Dennis, Michael, Kathleen Elizondo, and Carol (Ron) Brown; an amazing grandfather to eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Terry who he adored; his son Dennis; and grandsons, Mikey and Bill.
Bill was born in Detroit on June 5, 1928 to Benton and Martha McCue. He joined the Detroit Police Department in 1952 and spent 25 years proudly serving the public; including many years as Physical Training Instructor at the Detroit Police Academy. There he trained a great number of recruits and was loved and very well respected.
After retiring from DPD, he worked as a Security Investigator at MICH CON. He had many talents and hobbies; including making holsters from his own original patterns. These were all hand sewn and tooled. He also mastered the art of Stained Glass. Bill and Terry loved spending their winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was funny, told great jokes, and was larger than life. Bill was fondly known for his favorite saying: “AIN’T THIS LIVIN’” and will be greatly missed by his entire family and many good friends.
The family will greet friends from 2:00pm-9:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer and memory service on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Twp. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, October 15 at the above location. Visitation from 9:30 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill’s honor to the Michigan Humane Society or Hospice of Michigan.
