He attended Central High School in Fresno. He was a Star Athlete. He played football and was on the Track Team. He held the record for the 40 yard dash for many years and received numerous medals for his outstanding running ability.
In his early years, he worked in the Family Business Harvesting Grapes and Raisins with his Brother's on The Marcelli Ranch.
Shortly after Marrying the Love of his life, Dorothy Lee Stoker in 1960, Al branched out on his own and started his own Construction Company, "AL MARCELLI CEMENT CO. INC." which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He also owned The GodFather Cardroom and Bar in Old Town Clovis. He had a thirst for Gambling. He owned several Race Horses and could often be found at the race track or the Casino with his buddies. He was a phenomenal cook and took pride in working in his yard and maintaining his 70+ Sago Palms. Al was One Of A Kind. He had a Charisma and a way about him, that was all his own. He was well known for his "AL-isms," ("My Man"..."BabyDoll"..."Blood").
He did Business on a Handshake, He had a Heart of Gold and would do anything he could for a friend in need.
He worked hard and played hard...But Family always came first.....he lived his life to the very fullest and will be missed by his Family and all who new him. He was Preceded in death by His parents, Rose and Luis Marcelli, his beloved brothers, Angelo, John, Joseph, and Sgt. Donald Marcelli and the love of his life, Dorothy Lee Marcelli.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Barnard, Marcie Grote, Rebecca Fox, and his son, David Bower and his wife Judy, all of Clovis. Al was the beloved Grandfather of Brittany Ibarra, James Barnard, Chase Avila, Jocelyn Shaw, Dustin Bower,Jordon, Karigan, and Kyler Fox. He was the Great Grandfather of Dylan, Brayden, Addie, Emma, Sawyer, Case, Barron, and Tara. He is also survived by his brother, Tony Marcelli.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 from 2-7 P.M. at Boice Funeral Home In Clovis, CA.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Of Padua Church, 5770 N. Maroa Ave Fresno, CA on Thursday, October 11, 2018 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave., Fresno CA.
