He was born on March 2,1945 and grew up in a large family in the Houston area of Texas. After completing high school, he enlisted into the Navy at 17 years old. Having traveled to foreign countries such as Newfoundland and France during his term, he thus earned his membership with the VFW.
Aftera few years of college, he then worked in the construction industry for approximately 46 years as a superintendent completing several notable accomplishments including the timely Cyber-Knife project at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California; The three-story brick dormitory at Fresno Pacific University; The enduring expansion of the Fresno Surgery Hospital as well as various other buildings and several retail (GNC) tenant improvements.
In Texas, during his first marriage, he had two children, Allen Means, III and Christina Lee (Means).
He moved to California in 1990 and married his current wife, Sue Reynolds-Means. They had two children, Matthew and Lauren Means. After 31 years of marriage, Sue admits she was never bored for a minute as his dry, witty humor made the time fly.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Means and his sisters, Becky Thompson and Debi Bartlett. His wife, Sue and their two children, Matt and Lauren, as well as Allen and Christina. His mother-in-law Doris Reynolds, and several grandchildren including Marcus Means, Peyton and Grace Lee, Luke Means, Aubrianna and Alexander Fonseca, and Scarlett and Violet Calderon.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
