Doc Donald Nelson Shroyer returned to his Heavenly Father July 27, 2021. He was born Oct 14, 1928 in Marysville, Ohio where he worked as a printer and a projectionist prior to serving in the US Army in Korea in a MASH unit.
Don was the embodiment of a public servant, spending 48 years first as a classroom teacher and ultimately as an administrator under Doc Buchanan in Clovis Unified School District. During his tenure, he earned a Master of Education from Fresno State and his Doctorate in Public Administration from BYU. True to his character, he even spent 13 years post-retirement working for CUSD.
Over the years, Don held numerous positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including Ward Bishop and an Ordinance Worker at the Fresno Temple. In his earlier years he refereed football at both the high school and college levels and he enjoyed golf his entire life. He served in the Clovis Exchange Club, on the Center Stage Board, and in 2017 was honored by the Clovis Hall of Fame with the "Spirit of Clovis" award.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Shroyer, daughters Suzanne Warner, Rebecca Mattox (Larry) and sons Michael Guthrie (Patty), and Brian Guthrie (Lisa), as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved Nancy (Pittman's) children and grandchildren as his own.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jacquie Shroyer, son Raymond Shroyer, daughter Donna Shroyer, son Richard Guthrie, and Grandson Christopher Shroyer.
He will be honored at Hyde Park 6641 East Butler Fresno, CA 93727 on September 11, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.
