Ellenor May Martin was born into this world during the depression era, but she tells of how her father and mother always treated her with the best of everything, as the first child of the family.
She was the eldest of 3 other siblings, Harriet, George, and Vivian. She taught her children of the Lord God, creator of all things, and that God is love, and that she loved us very much, and I always appreciated that. Her favorite song is ONE DAY AT A TIME as she would pray her troubles to the Lord even as a child, and she felt His presence with the message "just take things one day at a time" and she always remembered this.
Ellenor graduated HS and then rather than attend college she began work as a switchboard operator so her family was awarded one of the first installed telephones in their town of Seekonk, Massachusetts. Ellenor eloped with Clarence to become Mrs. Martin where and she enjoyed travelling the USA with her husband, and they moved from Massachusetts to California. She worked as a telephone operator for many years, last of all at the Loma Linda University Medical Center as it was just built in the 1960s. She worked primarily to pay for private school for her two daughters, Susan and Gladys. They each received a good education from SDA academies, and she had such pride in her 2 girls, that she also enrolled them in finishing schools where they practiced as models.
Ellenor is survived by her daughter Susan Martin; and her daughter Gladys Boecker (Richard); her sister Vivian Taylor (Edward); her grandson Rick Power (Mandy), her grandson Bruce Power, her granddaughter Veronica Wagenleitner (Kevin), her grandson Michael Matthews (Vanessa) and her grandson David Matthews.
Ellenor was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Martin; her father Harrington Barlow and her mother Florence Barlow; her sister Harriet Videto and her brother Georg Barlow.
Ellenor is a grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of six at the time of her passing. She is beloved by many.
