Ellis "Pete" L. Perry

Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, on April 27, 1949, Pete lived a life full of love, service, and generosity. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1972 and was a Vietnam War veteran. A true patriot, Pete’s strength and sacrifice were matched only by his unwavering dedication to his family.

Pete was the kind of man who never met a stranger. He was respected, well-liked, and remembered by all who crossed his path. Friends and family have lovingly referred to him as “Larger than life.” He had a heart as big as the ocean he loved so dearly, and his generosity knew no limits. Whether you needed a helping hand or a listening ear, Pete was there without hesitation. He was the family’s rock. He was steady, strong, and full of wisdom.

He was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, and the world’s best Papa. He loved to cook and try out new recipes for his family, even winning the Central Valley Rib Cook Off in 1987. This led to him being invited to host a cooking demonstration at Home Express in Manchester Mall, where anyone could come and learn how to grill like Pete.

He found joy in simple pleasures such as the rumble of a hot rod, the serenity of a fishing trip, and frequent coastal getaways to Morro Bay and Monterey with his beloved wife Susan.

Pete was the kind of guy who could light up a room with his famous one-liners. He never missed a chance to crack a joke, share a funny story, or get everyone laughing until they cried. He was lovingly named “King of Jokes” by his grandson Luke.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Susan Perry, daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Shane DeMedeiros, his cherished grandsons, Luke and Logan DeMedeiros, and Tyler Hammond. He is also survived by his brother Doug Perry and his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Bill Stanley.

His legacy is one of love, strength, service, and selflessness. He will be profoundly missed, and forever loved and remembered.
