Sylvia, I just want to say how very sorry to find out that Ernie passed. This was a shock to us. I had a picture of Adele to send to him on FB but his profile was gone. I went to search and found the obituary. He was a gentle and loving person. He was to me the brother from another Mother. We had some great times with you all. Just know we loved him and love you.

Sylvia, Ted and I are still shocked and saddened over the loss of our good friend Speedy! We are so sorry and send our condolences to you and his family. We send you our thoughts and prayers every day. Your friends always!

I first met Ernie when I was 8 years old. He was a Eucharistic minister and it was my first time altar serving. My partner did not show up and Ernie could tell I was nervous and a little bit shy. He introduced himself to me and eased the tension I was feeling. He reminded me to light the candles on the side of the altar five minutes before mass, but I was too short to reach them. He ended up having to go back to the altar and re-light them for me. He walked me through that whole entire mass and ever since then I looked forward to altar serving every Sunday at 6:30 am mass at OLPH because I knew I would get to see him. He always made me laugh and always asked how I was doing in school. I went away for college and did not see him as often, but I am 21 now and even though we no longer saw each other every Sunday, he still greeted me with that same smile and genuine interest in my endeavors. 

My condolences to the Dalton family as well as Ernie's wife, Sylvia.

You will be missed greatly, Ernie. I am so thankful to have known you for so long. You were a true friend! I know you are resting in peace.
