Floyd was born on March 19, 1943 in Roswell, New Mexico. He was the middle child of the seven children born to George and Dorothy Hatcher. Floyd's family moved to Fresno when he was an infant.
He was a 1961 graduate of Central High School and attended Fresno City College before serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Panama.
Floyd was skilled as a welder, mechanic and heavy equipment operator and in 1968 was employed by the U.S. Forest Service engineering department. He married his sweetheart Jo in 1970 and they were married for 55 years. Floyd and Jo moved to Tollhouse in 1974, where they raised their two children, Janie and John.
He retired as Supervisor of the engineering department of U.S. Forest Service after 38 years of service.
Floyd was a small engine enthusiast and rebuilt antique flywheel engines. He belonged to branch 63 of the San Joaquin Valley Antique Flywheelers, which is a chapter of the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association.
In addition to his engines, Floyd like to take care of the many varieties of trees on his property. He loved the outdoors and took many hunting trips over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry and sisters Georgia and Mary.
He is survived by his wife Jo, children Janie Perkins (Joe) and John (Ida), his brother Ralph (Connie) and sisters Linda and Virginia, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home, located at 308 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, California, 93612, on December 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Following the Visitation, a Chapel Service will take place at the same location, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
