Gordon Edward Jones

Gordon was born on September 17, 1926, in Safford, Arizona, to Henry Pannill Jones and Rosa Viola Jones-Acers (Wilson). At just 17 years old, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. Throughout his life, he cherished those years of service and enjoyed sharing stories from his time in the Navy with family, friends, and neighbors. His stories preserved history and reflected the pride he felt in serving his country.

After returning home, Gordon built a career as a skilled welder, spending more than 20 years in heavy truck and trailer manufacturing. He was a hardworking man who believed in dedication, honesty, and taking pride in a job well done. At the heart of Gordon’s life was his remarkable 75-year marriage to his devoted wife, Eunice, a lifetime of love, partnership, and memories built side by side.

For over 70 years, Gordon called the Fresno and Clovis area home. While he was known for his strong work ethic, those closest to him knew his greatest joy came from his family and the animals he loved so dearly. Throughout his life, he cared for horses, ponies, dogs, and cats, and his gentle heart was evident in the compassion he showed every animal that crossed his path.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Pannill Jones and Rosa Viola Jones-Acers (Wilson), and by his beloved daughter, Belinda Kameron, who passed away in 2025. He is also remembered by Belinda’s life partner, Dale York, of Orange Cove, California.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of many years, Eunice May Jones (Morris) of Fresno, California; his son, Gordon Jones and wife Jan of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his daughter, Bernice Strange and husband Keith of Grants Pass, Oregon.

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Alan Strange and wife Tracy of North Pole, Alaska; Christy Boland and husband Scott of Bray, Oklahoma; Kevin Jones of Clovis, California; Steven Jones of Clovis, California; Julie Stamper and husband Jeff of Hanford, California; and Crystal Kameron of Fresno, California. Gordon was also the proud great-grandfather of 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and will carry forward his love, wisdom, and legacy.

Those who knew Gordon will remember his quiet strength, his kindness, his love of animals, his captivating Navy stories, and the words he so often shared with those he loved:

“I love you and all my children.”

His nearly century-long life was one of service, resilience, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew him for generations to come.

In accordance with Gordon’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no public viewing or memorial service will be held. His family finds peace in knowing he lived a long, full life and has been reunited with those who went before him.
