On Friday, July 25, 2014 Jackie peacefully passed from this life into heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 15, 1936 to Robert and Grace Long in Altoona, PA where sh lived until the age of 18 when she left for Philadelphia to work for the telephone company. It was there, while attending a USO dance, that sh meet a handsome Navy boy and the love of her life, Jerry Scott. Armed with a few suitcases, (mostly moms) and old Nash Rambler they traveled to Clovis, CA where they created their life of 58 years together.
Mom was a force; she was active in her daughters school PTA, Clovis Hospital Guild, Marjorie Mason Center, Dad's PG&E functions, and her beloved Clovis Good Time Girls. She worked for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Bitter, then for Fresno Unified as a Nurse's assistant and Barbra's' Dress Shop, where she was in her element (Clothes). Mom was alway into something. The homemade pickle craze of 73, Kahlua making, Embroidered Jean Shirts of the 70s and countless other projects.
Mom was always on the go. Always dressed to the nines she and dad enjoyed many trips with their friends to Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, family Summers at Bass Lake and Cayucos's with our PG&E family. Rodeo dances, parades and 4th of July in the driveway. She created a lot of family traditions that we continue to celebrate.
Her pride and joy were her 4 grandchildren; she reveled in all of their many accomplishments. Football, Water Polo, Track, Volleyball, Tennis, and Academics. She was a devoted Clovis High Cougar fan never missing a Clovis High Football game when her daughter was a cheerleader and her grandson played and coached.
Mom was precede in death by her parents Robert and Grace and infant son Gregory Michael.
She is Survived by her husband of 58 years. Jerry Scott, her daughters Jill Waymire and her husband Steve of Arroyo Grande and Jerilyn Spangle and her husband Jack of Clovis. Her grandchildren, Mitchell Spangle, Tatum, Paige, and Bear Waymire. Along with her precious dogs, Little Bit and Peanut.
