Janet Yvonne Mason

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Yvonne Mason of Clovis, CA, on October 16, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born on July 23, 1950 in Fresno, CA to Floyd Wyndell and Elsie Mae (Patton) Walker. Janet was diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer in August 2024. Despite her courageous battle, her body could not overcome the illness.

Janet grew up in Fresno, CA, and graduated from McLane High School in 1968. She married the love of her life, Gary Mason, on May 31, 1969. They enjoyed a happy marriage for 55 years.

Janet loved life and was dedicated to giving back. She and Gary hosted wonderful fundraising parties in their backyard, supporting causes such as Down syndrome awareness and the Special Olympics—charities they felt strongly about. Janet was also a passionate softball player, having played on a team coached by Gary for about ten years. The members of that team became lifelong friends whom she cherished and held dear.

Janet was a world traveler. She and her husband Gary explored 38 countries and numerous destinations across the USA. Their favorite vacations were those spent with their children, and grandchildren. Janet loved her family deeply and wanted to create as many cherished memories as possible in her lifetime. And she did just that. She truly lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Known for her kindness, loving spirit, and welcoming personality, Janet was truly an angel. She positively impacted everyone she met, teaching her children (and many others) the importance of respect, care, and love. Janet will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, loving heart, compassion for others, and unconditional love for her family.

Janet is survived by her husband, Gary; her sister, Rhonda; her children, Scott, Jenni (with her spouse, Ryan), and Tammi (with her spouse, Matt); her grandchildren, Sydney, Makayla, Lana, and Drake; and her great-grandchild, Charlee.

A graveside service will be held November 1, at 11:00 am at Redbank Cemetery, 11648 E. Shaw Ave. Clovis, CA 93619. A celebration of life will be held directly following the service at the Mason house. Friends and family are invited to attend and honor her memory.
