Jerry D. Hammons, age 75, a longtime resident of Clovis, CA, passed away on June 7, 2020 due to complications from renal failure. Born in Burbank, CA, he was born to Mozele Wiseman (nee Kimbrall) as Jerry Kimbrell before being adopted and raised by George Hammons & Lou Dale, quickly being renamed to Jerry Hammons. Although adopted, Jerry had a close connection to his birth mother and his stepfather, Richard Wiseman, until their passing.
Jerry spent over 35 years working for the U. S. Federal Government in multiple capacities including the Post Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation and later the Internal Revenue Service, from which he retired in 1999. During his tenure, Jerry worked as a Radio Maintenance Technician, Criminal Investigator and finally as a Special Agent for Criminal Investigation. He also served in the US Coast Guard during the 1960’s before being discharged. While working full time, Jerry completed his Master Degree in Criminology in 1979 from Fresno State University.
Jerry was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and could be found fishing from the frigid waters of Alaska to the sunny shores of Florida. A generous soul with a big heart, Jerry made friends everywhere he went and did his best to stay in contact with everyone.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Peggie Hammons and their two sons, Scott and Mark, and eight grandchildren.
Jerry's remains will be interred at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the near future.
