December 27,1932
July 9, 2013
Our loving father, Jimmy C Lawrence was born December 27, 1932 in Clayton, New Mexico to Calvert and Viola Lawrence, and left this earth to be reunited with his loving wife, Edythe "Winnie" Lawrence on July 9, 2013 after a courageous 3 year battle with esophageal cancer at the age of 80.
Jimmy graduated from Lindsay High School in 1951, served in the Navy from 1952-1956, and worked for Save Mart Supermarkets as a meat cutter for 25 years. He was an accomplished artist, and avid San Francisco Giants/ 49ers fan. His sense of humor was what kept him young, and he found the lighter side of life in almost everything he did! He was in the process of constructing a new display for his Christmas village when he began feeling ill again in April.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edythe "Winnie" Lawrence, his parents, Calvert and Viola Lawrence, his brother Charles, and his sisters Margie Rice, Ida Neims, Lena Utterback.
Gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth Vue, Veronica Ochoa and Walt Robinson of Bright Horizons Hospice for their loving, compassionate care of our father during the last 2 months of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Lawrence of Fresno, and his two step sons, Ted Hill of Kingman, AZ; Jim McClellan of Goldendale, WA, and one sister, Jan Smith of Apple Valley, AZ. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at the Boice Funeral Home chapel in Clovis at 1 pm on Friday July 12, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jimmy’s memory to the Esophageal Cancer Action Network, P.O. Box 243, Stevenson, MD 21153, or at www.ecan.org
