In the quiet, enduring ways that matter most, Laura moved through life with a tender regard for the living world and a mind that never stopped reaching for the next page. Her love of animals spoke to a gentle attentiveness—an instinct to notice, to care, and to make room for other creatures in her heart. And in reading, she found both refuge and renewal: a lifelong companionship with words, ideas, and the many lives a person can touch through stories.
Laura is survived by her son, Ronald Caillet, and her friend, Marsha L. Poff.
