Linda was born on in the summer of 1948 in Solvang, California. A small town located in the central coast of California, which had been settled by Danish immigrants. At a young age she survived Polio, just a few years before the vaccine came into use.
Linda was an avid reader, which led to her career as a Library Technician. In her younger years she enjoyed the arts including painting, pottery, sewing, and wood carving. As a youth she also participated in the 4-H Club and would be heavily-involved when her children did the same.
After graduating from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School in Solvang, California in 1966, Linda then studied in the Nursing Program at Santa Barbara City College in Santa Barbara, California from 1966-1969.
Linda pursued her education further, graduating with an Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Liberal Studies from El Camino College in Torrance, California in 1975. Her last degree, an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Library Technology from Fresno City College in Fresno, California, was obtained in 2000.
Linda is survived by her husband, William (Bill) H. Herd, Jr. of Clovis, California; her daughter Leanne Calderaro (Joe) of Clovis, California; and her son Andrew Herd (Summer Connery) of Fresno, California; her sister Susan Fredericksen of Clovis, California; her grandsons Enzo Calderaro and Anders Calderaro.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Milton (Mickey) L. Fredericksen and M. Elaine Fredericksen; and her sister Judy L. Fredericksen.
A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church, 603 Atterdag Road, Solvang, California.
