Louie Cardona Andrade, age 94 passed away peacefully in Clovis California in the early evening of Saturday March 18, 2023, God rest his Soul. He was born in Fresno California September 23, 1928 to Joseph (Jose) Higinio Andrade and Theresa Cardona Andrade, both from Mexico. He grew up in Fresno and Five Points California and was raised by his parents and Grandparents Cayetano and Virginia Andrade.
He married Lucy Ruiz in June of 1948. They were married til death did them part, 75 years. He served in the Air National Guard and US Army from 1950 to 1988. He received his Associate Degree in 1957. In his early years he was an amateur boxer. He was retired from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department where he worked as a Correctional Officer.
Louie was very social and loved spending time with family and friends. No matter where he went he would run into someone he knew. He was compassionate, kind, considerate and made everyone feel important. Some of his favorite activities included shadow boxing, running, fishing, nature trips, reading, meditating, attending Church and family gatherings. Week long yearly trips to Milton Freewater Oregon to visit his grandfather was an enjoyable must. He loved his grandfather dearly and often quoted his words of wisdom. He adopted his belief that life is to be enjoyed and worry was unnecessary. His family was his life and he loved them deeply.
When visiting Louie’s home a variety of pets were common place, dogs, rabbits, chickens (yes pets) and cats. Bedtime children’s stories were very enjoyable as he never read from a book but made up very vivid and exciting stories on the spot. Working in the yard and handy work around his home was something that brought him satisfaction.
Toward the end of Louie’s life he was blessed with caregivers that truly cared and understood him at the Green Gables Care Home. Also Hospice was very supportive and comforting to him and his family. The family greatly appreciates their sensitive and gracious services. The priest provided prayers and comfort for his peace of mind. His sister Carmela led him in prayer to accept Jesus Christ into his heart of which is deeply appreciated.
Louie is survived by his wife Lucy Andrade, daughter Carmen Andrade, son Louie Andrade Jr., daughter Virginia Andrade, daughter Theresa Andrade, grandsons Nicholas Andrade, Floyd Cruz, Larry Taylor II and Vincent Andrade, granddaughters Denise Andrade, Stephanie Colmenero and Benai Taylor, brothers Catalino, Lawrence, Thomas and Jose, sisters Mary Vargas and Carmela Garcia. He was preceded in death by his son Nick Andrade, daughter in-law Lynn Andrade, grandson Freddie Andrade, brothers Ruben, Louis and Frank, sisters Josephine Rivas and Angie Woods.
Viewing is Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Boice Funeral Home Clovis, California. Funeral Services is Friday, April 14, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at New Hope Community Church Clovis, California. Immediately followed by Graveside Services at the Clovis Cemetery, Clovis, California.
