Her life was centered on her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Marilyn married her first husband Robert L. Owens on November 8, 1945. They had three children together: Tim, Terri, and Ted. As a highly involved parent, Marilyn actively participated in her children’s lives. She led a Boy Scout troop, a Girl Scout troop, supported Indian Guides, engaged in PTA, encouraged Little League, attended skating events, and spent her summers supervising her children playing at Airways Swimming pool.
Marilyn was a devote Christian. While blessed with grace, she always lived her faith by teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school, serving as church treasurer, teaching bible study to special needs children, and assisting in providing church services to the confined.
After Marilyn’s first husband passed away, she retired from the IRS and married her second husband, Elmer Kiser, in 1988. They spent the next 24 years traveling in their RV and hosting family and friends at their ranch home in Auberry, California. Elmer and Marilyn loved playing country and gospel music together, and would often host regular jam sessions. Marilyn also enjoyed playing bridge and dancing. She was a member of the same bridge club for over 30 years and a member of the Cotillion Dance Club. In the last few years, Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at Claremont Senior Apartments.
