Mary Agnes (Huebert) Moshier passed on June 5, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on August 29, 1938, in Orland, California, the youngest of six children born to Abe and Marie Huebert. She grew up on a farm near Reedley, where she learned early that every pair of hands mattered. Whether packing plums and peaches or helping with the many tasks that kept the farm running, Mary developed the work ethic and sense of responsibility that would define her life.
She attended Riverview Elementary and Middle School and graduated from Reedley High School in 1957, where she played in the high school honor orchestra. Mary continued her education at Reedley College and Fresno State College, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1961.
While at Reedley College, she met Kenneth “Ken” Moshier. They married on August 27, 1960, and made their home in Fresno. Mary taught school for two years before she and Ken welcomed their two sons – Richard in 1963 and Robert in 1966. From that moment on, Mary poured her heart into motherhood. She paused her teaching career to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom, and she embraced that role with joy, purpose, and unwavering dedication.
Mary and Ken delighted in their boys. They attended nearly every game, performance, and activity, cheering them on with pride that never faded. Their home was filled with laughter, encouragement, and the steady rhythm of a family rooted in love.
In 1964, when the College Church of Christ opened its doors on Bullard Avenue, Mary, Ken, and Richard became charter members. Mary was baptized shortly afterward, beginning a lifetime of faithful service. Church was a priority for the family, and once the boys were old enough for Bible classes, Mary joined the teaching staff. She and Ken opened their home countless times to the church’s large and lively Youth Group – hosting devotionals, hayrides, campfires, and even a legendary Halloween haunted house built in the family’s barn. Mary loved those gatherings. She loved young people. And she loved creating a place where faith and fellowship could flourish.
As the boys grew older and began attending Yosemite Bible Camp, Mary continued her service there as well, becoming a regular member of the teaching staff.
In the late 1970’s, Mary returned to the classroom, joining the staff at Mountain View Christian School. She spent most of her years there teaching kindergarten – a calling she cherished. Mary loved her students deeply, and she valued the relationships built with their families. Over the years, she received many letters of appreciation from parents whose children had been shaped by her gentle guidance. Even after retiring in 1998, she continued teaching for a time, offering a preschool class in her home for her grandchildren and their cousins.
Mary’s faith was the quiet foundation of her life. She lived it not through grand gestures, but through a servant’s heart – steady, humble, and sincere.
God blessed Mary and Ken with sixty-five years of marriage and a close-knit family that brought them immeasurable joy. Their sons, Richard and Robert, later welcomed two daughters-in-law, Becky and Kris, into the family. Robert and Kris blessed them further with two grandchildren, Shelby and Alan, who became the delight of Mary’s later years.
Some of Mary and Ken’s happiest memories were made at the coast, spending a week each summer camping in the RV with Shelby and Alan – watching them play in the waves, exploring the shoreline, and savoring long days filled with laughter and salt air. Just as precious were the hours spent cheering from the sidelines as the grandchildren competed in soccer, water polo, and swimming. Their pride in those moments never dimmed.
After retirement, Mary and Ken embraced the joy of traveling. They journeyed across most of the lower forty-eight states, made several trips to the East Coast, and embarked on a remarkable seven-week adventure through Alaska and Canada. They also enjoyed a memorable seven-day cruise to four of the Hawaiian Islands, a trip that added a touch of tropical wonder to their travels. Mary especially loved their regular camping trips to the central and northern California coast and up through Oregon and Washington.
At home, Mary found joy in simple, meaningful things – reading, tending to her garden, and spending time with the people she loved the most. Her life was not defined by accolades or attention, but by devotion; to her family, to her students, to her church, and to her God.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faithfulness, and love lived quietly but powerfully. She touched lives not through grand speeches, but through steady presence. Not through demands, but through service. Not seeking recognition, but through giving herself wholeheartedly to the people entrusted to her.
We remember her with gratitude. We honor the life she lived, the love she gave, and the example she leaves behind.
And we give thanks to Mary – wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend – whose gentle spirit will remain with us always.
