Noralee Jean Pack, age 71, of Clovis CA, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Saturday, October 14, 2017. She was born on April 24, 1946, to Robert and Alma Westlund in Novato, CA.
Noralee was the oldest of five children and graduated from Bullard High School. Noralee’s life took her from California to New Jersey, but lived most of her life in the Fresno and Clovis area.
Noralee was a woman of many talents and love for many things. Noralee’s greatest love was her family. She loved the old movie musicals, especially “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” and “Singing in the Rain”. She enjoyed all forms of music but especially Rock & Roll from the 50’s and 60’s and Country. She and her husband David attended numerous concerts and dances. She loved children and worked as a Teacher’s Aid and later as a volunteer at Miramonte Elementary. She would often volunteer in the front office especially with Kindergarten registration.
Noralee and David loved sports. Their TV usually had a sports game on, except for the nightly Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. It was no surprise to family and friends, when she started working for the Fresno Grizzlies during the season from day one at Beiden field in 1998, and then to Chuckchansi park in 2001. Noralee worked as a Ticket Taker, Usher, Supervisor of Usher’s and then the last 10 years as the Courtesy Booth Hostess until she retired in September of 2013. Many devoted Grizzlies fans looked for Noralee at each home game. Noralee supported David playing in the Men’s Senior Baseball League. For 20 years each October they traveled to Arizona for the Men’s Senior Baseball League World Series. She became like a mother to the team and for the last 15 years she would organize a delicious steak Bar-B-Que dinner for the team one night during the week of their series at the place they were staying at.
Noralee loved flowers and spent a lot of time in the yard enjoying the beauty and smell of them, especially her roses. In the most recent years, the roses brought her a lot of comfort as they bloomed. Noralee was also very talented at making crafts. Most of the items she made she gave away to friends and family so they could always have a homemade piece from her in their life. She made and donated items to special events, especially the sales and silent auction fund raisers at the Miramonte and Fairmont Elementary Schools.
Noralee worked at various jobs throughout her life. First in her parent’s dry cleaning business. She also worked for about 20 years at Valley Medical Center in the Business Office. When they closed, she briefly transitioned to Fresno Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Alma Westlund, grandchild Kimberly Marie Hamilton, and sister-in-law Francis Westlund.
She is survived by David, her husband of 32 years, sons Richard Sappington and his wife Mary and Shawn Sappington and finacee Tara, and daughter-in-law Lena. Grandchildren: Desiree, Ryan, Nate, Cody, Kylee, Blake, Reven, and Gage and Greatgrandchildren Daniel and Devon. She is also survived by her brothers: John Westlund of Anchorage, AK, Donald Westlund and his wife Jolene of Ketchikan, AK, Alan Westlund and his wife Linda of Oakhurst, CA, and sister Vanda Funk and her husband Sam of Hollister, CA., along with nieces and nephews: Callie, Courtney, Robert and Jake.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Mei-Tsuey Hwang, her Nephrologist, Julie See, her Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse, Mary Viancourt, family friend and caretaker, whose help through this last long illness can never be repaid and the kind staff at Hinds Hospice Home.
Noralee touched many lives in immeasurable ways and will be missed by all who knew her.
