Born on October 26, 1979, in Fresno, California, to Mark and Jill Thompson, Patrick was the fourth of five children. He attended Buchanan High School where he excelled as an athlete, earning all-league honors in multiple sports. After high school, Patrick chose to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala.
Patrick received a full scholarship to play linebacker at Ricks Junior College. After one year at Ricks College, he transferred to Arizona State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish. He later attended Alliant International University and earned a master's degree in International Relations. He traveled extensively throughout Central and South America, as well as Spain and Portugal, as a "student of life" and a cultural ambassador.
Patrick was known for his infectious laugh, his gift for storytelling, and his ability to make everyone feel like his best friend. He was a fiercely loyal and unwavering source of support for his friends and family. To his nieces and nephews, he was "the fun uncle," creating adventures and bringing laughter to every gathering.
Patrick is survived by his father, Mark Thompson; his brothers, Matt and Adam Thompson; and his sisters, Allison Sever and Rebekah Chappell. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jill Thompson.
A visitation is scheduled at Boice Funeral Home, located at 308 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, CA 93612, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 342 W Nees Ave, Clovis, CA 93611, on Friday, August 8, 2025, starting at 9:00 am, followed by the committal service at Red Banks Cemetery, 11648 E Shaw Ave, Clovis, CA 93619.
The pallbearers will be Adam Thompson, Matt Thompson, Nate Sever, Dillon Sever, Gannon Sever, Luke Sever. Mark Thompson, Andrew Chappell, Aiden Thompson, and Leo Chappell will serve as an honorary pallbearers.
