April 5, 1943 - May 19, 2013
Paul was born April 5, 1943 in Northbridge, Mass and passed away on May 19, 2013.
Paul was the fourth of five children. He grew up in Massachusetts until 1956. This was where he developed his interest in golf. He would caddy on the golf course and later get to play. His family then moved to Lakewood, CA. He finished public schools in Lakewood. In 1966 Paul married Deborah Sweeney. Paul was in the US Army from 1967 to 1969. He and Deborah had 3 children, Tim, April, and Andrea. Paul worked for Young’s Market as a warehouseman and driver. Later he went to work for Monroe Business Systems as a Service Tech, and moved to Clovis in 1982. Later he and Deborah divorced. In 1990 he met his wife Rae Lynn. They were married in December, 1990 at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, NV. Paul now had two teenage step sons, Byron and Mike Lee. Rae Lynn felt that Circus Circus was a good fit because life was going to be a 3-ring circus with 5 children, ages 12 to 22.
In 1989 he started his own business, A&A Copier Sales and Service in Clovis. He named his business after his two daughters, April and Andrea and it also would be first in the phone book. He loved his business and he tried to know each of his customers on a personal level. In 2002 he sold his business and started his retirement life.
Paul loved the retirement life. They bought an RV and soon joined Good Sams Club, Lucky Ones. His first thought was that maybe he and Rae Lynn would become full-time Rvers and travel all over. They did take a 5 month trip across the United States and parts of Canada. They enjoyed it, but decided shorter trips were better. Lucky Ones was a perfect fit in that it gave them a place to go in the RV once a month and lifetime friendships were made. Friends were very important to Paul and he cherished each and every friend he made. Friends always enjoyed his great sense of humor even if at times they did not know how to take it.
Paul also enjoyed playing golf. He joined SIRS (Sons In Retirement). This gave him an opportunity to play golf every week, sometimes twice a week. Paul loved sports and his favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, and Fresno State Bulldogs. He also loved playing craps at a casino.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marion Hyland, 2 brothers, John and Richard, grandson, Nicholas Hyland and granddaughter, Ashley Hyland.
His family meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife, Rae Lynn of Clovis; sisters, Frances Mobley, and Carol Carpenter of Cedar City, Utah; children, Tim Hyland of Long Beach, CA; April and Jonathan Gorman of Winder, Ga; Andrea and Robinson Ives of Gasquet, Ca; step-sons Byron Lee and Mike Lee, both of Clovis. Grand children are Christian Hyland and Kaitlyn Hyland of Long Beach, CA, Jacob McCormack, Ellora McCormack, and great grandson Kayden McCormack of Epping, NH; Cole Ives and Chloe Ives of Gasquet, CA; Hannah Lee, Dominique Lee, and Tiffani Lee of Clovis; and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
