Roland Donovan Young

He was known for his get up and go personality, his kindness, caring, and love. He was still up at 4am every morning to put the coffee on and get busy for the day. He married the girl next door, Beverly Joyce Jarnagin, and was always proud that when he asked her mother Pauline for permission to marry, she said yes. He had been so heartbroken and missed her so deeply when she passed. He lost his soulmate. He touched the lives of so many and is dearly missed by his family and friends.

Roland had strong values, a strong work ethic, and lots of love for life. He loved to help people and fix anything. He loved the universe, built telescopes for his children to see, and built model spaceships. He was a huge Star Trek fan. He talked to people all over the world from his CB radio shed. He was a storyteller, loved genealogy, and built his own computers early on.

He retired from the Operating Engineers Union Local #3 and was extremely proud to be a pensioner, as was his father. Beverly and Roland and son Patrick Young started a Bee Keeping Business (SkepGlen) when he retired from the engineers. They sold Young’s Honey for years. Beverly and Roland also provided Childcare in their home for 30 years. So many of those children became extended family and they loved them all like family. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and joined the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Veteran.

He is survived by his son Patrick Donovan Young and daughter Roxsan Dawn Young. Sadly, his daughter Shari Ann Young Cordova passed away in 1999. Never forgotten.

He is also survived by many deeply loved grandchildren, save one, much loved Patrick “PJ” Donovan Young, Jr.

They are Roxsan Marie Gongora Aguilar, Sarah Dawn Themins Sanderson , Peter Jon Themins, David Jason Cordova, Alisha Joyce Cordova, Jennifer Jade Cordova, Sierra Pearl Cordova, Kyle Ira Young, Haley Michelle Young, and Megan Ann Young.

Great Grandchildren are Alex Matthew James, Dominick Jason Aguilar, Andrew Orion James Aguilar, Star Catalina Gongora, Derek Eugene Aguilar, Michael Warren Aguilar, Joseph Noah Chen, Mei Lin Chen, Hunter Wynyard Sanderson, Lucas Jon Themins, Maycie June Themins, Malachi Chanto Cordova-Chheo, Ariyah Elizabeth Chheo, Maurice James Chheo, Skylenne Summer Desatoff, David Jacob Cordova, Everlie Ann Cordova, Paris Lee Hopkins, Juniper Jade Hopkins, Scarlett Rose Cherry-Young.

Great Great Grandchildren, Mayah Karizmae James, Elijah Hudson Aguilar, Saphira Addison James, Kaison Orion Aguilar.
