Ron was the beloved son of Wynn and Inez Roberts, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his sister, Carolyn Mefford; his brother, Robert Roberts, and Robert’s wife, Lynn; his sons, Kevin, Marc, and Ronny, and their wives, Judy, Sherie, and Tracey. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Andrew and his wife Amanda, Brandon and his wife Katherine, Chelse and her husband Ben, Hannah and her husband Austin, Noah, Trent, and Jared; and his great-grandchildren: Colt, Callahan, Elowyn, Asher, Shiloh, and Otto.
Ron graduated from Roosevelt High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force for two years.
In 1961, Ron married the love of his life, Sherry Smith, beginning a remarkable 64-year marriage built on devotion, partnership, and family. Together they raised three sons, each of whom he
adored.
Ron spent a majority of his life as a dedicated plumber in Fresno, proudly working through Local Union 246. His craftsmanship helped build the foundation of countless homes and projects
throughout the Valley. He also built four of the homes his family lived in, a testament to both his skill and his love of providing for those he cherished.
In the 1980s, Ron worked in Saudi Arabia for Parsons Corporation as a senior construction engineer. It was there that he unexpectedly discovered a new passion, baking pies. What began overseas became a lifelong joy, and Ron continued making pies for family gatherings, Holidays, as well as donating them to fundraisers and community events. A handmade Pie by Ron was the highlight of any Holiday.
Ron loved people, adventure, and the outdoors. In his younger years he was an avid deer hunter, especially enjoying trips to Colorado and Utah with his best friend Keith King. Those journeys became cherished memories filled with stories, including the family favorite: the year he was so excited to go hunting that he took off forgetting to bring his own gun. The laughter that followed captured Ron’s warm and humorous spirit.
He enjoyed raising his boys, meeting new people, and involving himself in community life. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, The Corvette Club, Jim Beam Bottle Club, and was well-traveled and known to be happiest behind the wheel of a motorhome, boat, or car.
Ron’s joyful spirit found a special home in the Shriners Clown Unit, where he performed as “Snickers the Clown,” bringing laughter to children and families during parades, charity events, and hospital visits.
Ron’s warmth, humor, hard work, and generosity touched everyone he met. His legacy lives on in his family, in the countless lives he brightened, and in the community he helped build.
Ron was known for his bellowing voice and big heart, which will be missed dearly.
