Sally was preceded in death by her first husband, Alan G. Dick.
Sally's roots are deep in the cattle industry. Being a fourth generation rancher, she took silent pride in the fact that her children and grandchildren are able to carry-on the ranching lifestyle as being stewards of the land which her ancestors settled over 150 years ago. She was taught and participated in every aspect of the business.
Sally was a member and volunteer of the Academy Church, Delta Gamma, Fresno Farm Bureau, Fresno-Kings County Cattle Women's Association, Sierra Historical Society, Squaw Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association, Valley Children's Hospital Los Rancheros Guild, Clovis Big Creek Historical Society. She rode with The California Rangerettes in her youth which she enjoyed. Sally was a former Clovis Rodeo Queen (1950); CattleWoman of the Year (1978); and she was a recipient of the Common Threads Award (2009).
Sally devoted her time and talent serving the Ag in the Classroom Program with the Fresno Farm Bureau. Countless hours and miles were covered to introduce children throughout the county to the business of ranching. She always emphasized to the students that a rancher gets paid once a year, so their every decision, action and effort is rewarded at the time of sale.
One of her passions has been her time spent in the mountains. Summers of her youth were spent with her family running cattle in the Sierra Mountains. She continued her treks to the high country throughout her senior life also. Sally also enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Sally will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018 beginning at 3:00 PM at Clovis Rodeo Hall, 748 Rodeo Drive, Clovis, California 93612.
