I am saddened to hear of Steve's passing.
I had the great opportunity to work with Steve at the City of Clovis and got to thankfully know Steve and Sharon.
We had a wonderful professional relationship, but even more so, an out of back door "let's find somewhere to kayak" friendship.
I learned from Steve that finding the middle ground was important. I also learned that hunters love animals...he told me about winging a goose one early morning and watching it's mate fly under and lift it up to fly off. There was a little moisture in his eyes.
He also reminisced about things in his youth and time in Montana and used "when Hector was a Pup" preface the story.
Steve touched my life in so many ways. Here's to a great man and the world he lived in!

Steve and I spent a number of years working together at the City of Clovis. Among many things I remember Steve’s ability to find ways through the building codes to make the preservation of historic buildings possible. All the work he did to make possible the restoration of the Tarpey Depot and the conversion of the old Clovis High building. Steve loved the out doors. We talked about many of his outings, duck hunting, fishing, trips to Montana. One funny memory I have is of Steve in a kayak paddling in the flood waters filling the Clovis Old Town Trail underpass just north of Lowe’s. Steve could find ways to make even a flood fun. Friendship is a special thing and I will carry the memories of our friendship with me through the years.
