Sue was born on February 12, 1939 in Evening Shade, Arkansas to her parents Coy Ring and Janie Ring. She grew up with her two sisters, Johnnie Louise Darr and Nita Ring, and her brother Billy Joe Ring.
In 1956, Sue met the love of her life, Dan R. Baker. Dan was a mechanic for the United States Air Force and was stationed in Arkansas at the time. It is still unsure whether it was Dan or his motorcycle that Sue was attracted to! They wed after a few short months of meeting each other on October 27, 1956 at the young ages of 20 and 17 in the State of Mississippi. Sue and Dan had their first child, Sandra 9 and a half months later. They moved from Arkansas to Virginia and then to Fresno, California where they had their two children, Dan Jr., and Elizabeth. They bought their forever home in Clovis, California in 1967 where they had their last child, Kim. Sue and Dan Celebrated 64 years of marriage this past October.
During her working years, Sue worked as a field worker picking cotton, cleaned houses, and eventually worked in a packing house before she retired. Sue was well-known for being the fastest packer in the packing house! She loved spending her retired years searching for antiques and knick-knacks to add to her many collections, going to yard sales with her husband, and spending time with her family. She was someone who could fall asleep in any chair during any time of the day and was always a good sport when her grandkids would prank her by putting salt in her coffee while she wasn’t looking. She loved all things Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and always bragged about how her and Abraham Lincoln shared a birthday. Sue had a smile and laugh that could light up the room. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and sister, and the best Memo (Grandma) that her grandkids and great grandkids could have ever asked for.
Sue accepted Christ into her life on October 30, 1960 and was baptized on January 22, 1961. She was called home on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 81.
She is resting easy with her first-born grandson, Michael Calafiore.
Sue is survived by her husband, Dan Richard Baker, her 4 children, 15 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
