

William “Bill” E. Halsey of Sanger, CA, age 89, went to be with his lord peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017. He was born on March 8, 1928 in Hughson, California to William and Roxie (Bray) Halsey.
In 1946, Bill graduated from Hughson Union High School, where he excelled in football, baseball, and track. Having earned a scholarship for these sports, he continued his education earning an AA degree in Physical Education at La Verne College. Bill worked as a butcher for over 40 years and was an active member of the UFCW, retiring with over 23 years of service to Save Mart Supermarkets. Sharing his passion for baseball, he coached Babe Ruth baseball for over 11 years in Sanger from 1971-1982, having coached his team to win the championship for 10 years in a row. As an active member of Faith Community Church, he served on their board of directors for over 20 years and always took the time to share the word of God and pray with those in need. Known as “the kindest man I had ever met”, he enjoyed fellowship; a great meal; growing the best tomatoes; making his award winning vanilla ice-cream; deer and waterfowl hunting; and freshwater and deep sea fishing.
He is survived in death by his children, Cherie Porter Blackwell, William R. “Bob” Halsey, Randall E. Halsey, Kelly C. Halsey, and Gregory S. Reed; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Angela J. Halsey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Boice Funeral Home located at 308 Pollasky Ave., Clovis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene located at 430 Peach Ave., Clovis.
Serving as pallbearers are Bob Halsey, Adam Halsey, Kelly Halsey, Greg Reed, Dave Halsey and Chris Halsey.
The Halsey family would like to thank all of the staff at the California Armenian Home for their kind and compassionate care; they would also like to thank Dr. John Nelson, Dr. George Molina, and Dr. Kevin Boran for their continued care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s name to Ducks Unlimited.
