Bill was a true gentleman who served his community for decades.  Those of us in California agriculture know him as a quiet and articulate leader who garnered respect and affection from all who knew him.

Dorcus and family you have my prayers and support as you remember the good times and full life that Bill shared with so many family, friends and industry leaders.  His quiet leadership style will be missed but remembered by all of us who have learned from his active committment to improving everything he touched.  Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. McFarlane.  Bill was no longer on the School Board when I arrived in Clovis in 1976 but he had a major influence on my career by his continued support of me along with the entire Clovis Unified School District.  He was a major reason for the success of CUSD and always will be remembered as one of the icons of our community and school district.

Alison I am so sorry for your loss, although I did not know your father is does seem that many do and he will be greatly missed but what a great legacy he has left his community.

I RECALL THE WONDERFUL TIMES SPENT AT HIS SHAVER LAKE HOME.HOW HE ENJOYED FRIENDS THAT CAME TO VISIT.HIS HOME UNDER THE OAK TREE IN CLOVIS, A PLACE WHERE FAMILY AND FREINDS ALWAYS FELT WELCOME.OUR ENGLISH LESSONS.LAY AND LIE GOT IT MADE HIM AND MYSELF HAPPY. TEACHING ME HOW TO WHISTLE AT THE KITCHEN TABLE AFTER DINNER.NO LUCK.HE COULD WHISTLE LIKE A BIRD AND ALSO HAD A VERY GOOD VOICE SANG YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE AT 3 A.M.AND DANCE.OUR TALKS OVER ICE CREAM IN THE EARLY A.M. HOURS. I LEARNED ALL ABOUT HIS ORANGES AND ALMONDS. TALKED ABOUT HIS FAMILY AND HE WAS SO PROUD OF THEM.ABOUT HIS WIFE DORCAS AND STEPCHILDERN ALL THR GOOD TIMES IN SAN PALO.MR MC FARLANE ASK ME TO CALL HIM BILL ALL MY FRIENDS DO. I enjoyed one day with Mr. McFarlane, and that was nice, but we in Paris, Texas have been lucky to enjoy four decades of being around his daughter Suzy. What she has meant to Paris has been incalcuable. We are glad he let her move east!

It is said in the cold structure of regimentation there is little place for emotion. 
I am confused and fail to see, in all that is, the origin of this very odd notion. 
I Myself have partaken in ceremony, deeply touching the coldest Heart and Soul. 
Simply takes but "Two", such as You, Bells, Sirens, Whistles, Shouts, Horns to blow. 
With in the "Regimented Structure" of those who serve Humankind, without fail, 
No question "Two Bells", passing to friendly hands, tis but only a chapter in the tale!

I can still picture you in your blue pick up truck driving down the country roads. Rest in peace Mr. Bill.

bill was a very special friend to the dunbar family. he will truly be missed. he was a very person in so many ways. our prayers go out to bill's family. the dunbar family.
