Biography

William Archie (Bill) White was born on March 21, 1931 in Boyle MS to Mamie and Walter White. He was the 5 th of 8 children, he was the last surviving member of his family. He came to California as a child. His family followed the produce from state to state for many years. His dad operated a Labor Camp in Tipton CA where he met his wife Frances Casada. They were very young. He joined the Army and served 3 years in Japan. At the start of the Korean Conflict, he was reassigned to Korea and served two years of the war. He returned home and married Frances in 1951. They had 5 children, Linda (Nino) Hernandez, Jenny (Ronnie) Eubanks, Marilyn White, Bill (Lori) White and Bob (Julie) White. The family relocated to Salinas CA in 1959. Dad worked in the produce sheds for a few years. He started roofing houses and eventually became a roofing contractor for White’s Roofing Company.

Dad liked to camp, fish and raise and breed game chickens. He loved to watch sports, he was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.

Dad had so much love for family. He was very generous and would always have a helping hand for family, friends and even strangers. He gave advice when asked and if you didn’t follow the advice you never heard “I told you so”. Dad was a big joker. He loved to make people laugh. His jokes were often inappropriate and depending on where you were sometimes embarrassing.

Dad loved us all; 5 children, 11 grandchildren; Billy White, Megan (John) Hernandez Crutchfield, Ronnie Eubanks, James Eubanks, Kristy (Clayton) White Clark, Bobby White, Matt White, Halie (Will) White Kind, Courtney White, Jamie White and JT White, 10 great grandchildren; Shyanne Silva, Destiny (David) Silva, Billy White, Jesse White, Anthony White, Cali Clark, Caitlin Crutchfield, Mackenzie Crutchfield, Chesney Eubanks and William White and 2 great-great grandchildren: Zander Estrada and Levi Garrett. Dad was a father figure to many. People were drawn to him and his love of life and he was just fun to be with. Dad and Mom relocated to Fresno in 2006. Dad died on 3/31/2021 at the age of 90. He will be missed!
